Host Selection

Germany was selected to host Euro 2024 after a vote by the UEFA Executive Committee. The decision came down to Germany and Turkey, with Germany winning the bid. Germany’s choice of stadiums includes nine venues from the 2006 World Cup, plus Düsseldorf.

The Road to Qualification

Germany automatically qualified as the host. The remaining 23 spots were decided through qualifying matches and play-offs. Notable teams returning include defending champions Italy, runners-up England, and other big names like France and Portugal. Unfortunately, some teams like Sweden and Wales didn’t make it this year.

Meet the Teams

Out of 24 teams, 19 participated in the previous Euro edition. Newcomers Georgia are making their debut, adding fresh excitement to the tournament. Teams like Albania, Serbia, and Slovenia are returning after missing previous editions.

Notable Absentees

Sweden, a regular in past tournaments, failed to qualify. Russia was banned from participating due to the invasion of Ukraine. Wales, who had impressive runs in the past two Euros, also didn’t make the cut this year.
